Vietnam telcom firms win deals with Laos, Cambodia
Two affiliates of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) have inked business contracts to supply telcom services in Laos and Cambodia, local newspaper Nguoi Lao Dong reported Wednesday.
The contracts were inked on the sidelines of the ICT Digital & Electronics World Expo 2007, the largest of its kind held annually in Cambodia, jointly held by Cambodia’s National ICT Development Authority (NIDA) and Vietnam’s IDG World Expo.
Vina LSC won a $356,000 contract to supply fiber optic cables for the Laos National Telecommunications Company.
VDC, a software services provider, signed a deal with Cambodian firm AngKor Net to help increase the Internet transmission cable line from 6Mb to 10Mb. The two sides would continue the business contract in the future to raise the capacity for the line to 60Mb-70Mb.
The April 6-8 expo in Phnom Penh attracted 40 local and foreign companies, from Singapore, China, Malaysia and the European Union, and Vietnam.
VNPT, the platinum sponsor for the event, showcased its latest IT products and solutions such as NGN (New Generation Network) and new value-added services for internet, fixed-line telephones and mobile phones.
