Market Development Project Adviser, Cambodia

Voluntary Service Oversea

HELP MAKE MARKETS WORK FOR THE POOR IN CAMBODIA

VSO's overarching goal is to eradicate poverty in its widest sense; our vision is of a world in which people of all cultures are seen as equal, learn from each other and share a common sense of rights and responsibilities as global citizens.

If you have experience of market and value chain development in a pro-poor setting and strong capacity building and coaching skills, VSO would like to hear from you. We are looking for an experienced project manager to support the Cambodia Secure Livelihoods Programme Team in the start-up and implementation of a market development project, whose aim is to improve access to and participation in markets for poor and marginalized people.

The post is a key resource in implementing the Cambodia element of a global Making Markets Work for the Poor (MMW4P) project and will help to build the capacity of the VSO Cambodia secure livelihoods programme to act as a learning hub on market development approaches for other VSO programmes in the Asia region. Working closely with the Secure Livelihoods Senior Programme Manager, the Market Development Project Adviser will oversee the project activities, planning, implementing and monitoring these in line with the agreed aims and objectives.

The post-holder will also provide coaching and mentoring support to staff, volunteers and partners, helping them to understand and embrace market development approaches and integrate these into their work. In addition, he or she will develop and maintain relationships with key organisations and networks to support market development initiatives and take responsibility for project and financial reporting in accordance with donor requirements.
